  The link up there contains a document file worth a look as well. The guy who wrote it (a good friend of mine) struggled with the issue for a good while whilst studying with the witnesses.

  He did not receive a satisfactory answer to his questions, so he gave this document to the society for consideration.

  Basically, they never even took the time to address the document and his genuine concerns.

  This was the turning point for him and he did not proceed towards baptism because of the arrogance and ignorance displayed by the local witnesses.

  Spirit and Truth...what do these things mean?

  It all depends on whether these folders have anything objective in them. If they only have other concepts, mere words, poetic arguments and untestable hypothesis....then they mean NOTHING.

  But, be warned: you will have the ___feeling__they do mean something.

  Not true for the mystic.

  I am still a believer in the ineffable - that which cannot be bound by human language.

  What does a christian do if they prove to themselves that christianity is as false as the witnesses?

  Well initially that leaves a person tumbling through an abyss looking for another ideology to cling to. Like the Greek thought of "two atoms colliding and producing life" in quite a chaotic way - most turn to that theory and wrap it all up in contemporary materialist science.

  For instance...

  Christianity, regardless of whether you consider it to be founded in absolute truth, is now a reality.

  My obsession with MP3s

  i just worked out it would take 2 years, 245 days and several hours to play all my mp3s back to back.

  that might be why there's a few i haven't played yet.

  gradually i'm replacing them with cds i pay for on ebay.

  As A JW, Did You Ever Really Love Jesus?

  jesus was mentioned but he was always in the background.

  many religions boast of loving jesus.

  Should JW's be trying to convert others to their faith?

  if you think about it, what happens if one of the persons in a marriage gets converted to the jw religion, while the other one chooses not to believe?

  or the husband is at work, and the wife gets to meet the jw at the door, has bible studies with them, gets converted, and then the husband wakes up one day and finds he is living with a jw mate.

  what happens if a jw couple is out in the field service, and one gets converted to another religion, precisely as a result of doing the kingdom field service work.. in all of these instances, it results in a religiously divided home.

  Change should be more gradual, more natural. As people see the benefits of a thing, they naturally adopt it. Evangelism often creates a need where there is none and then fills it. People end up w something that they generally don't need.

  Life is not always that straight forward. We have a short period of time on the earth and if the society I am living in has convinced me of bogus ethics, then I appreciate a person from the outside presenting good, rational information to me.

  For instance, I might feel it is ok to be a Nazi (an extreme example) and need re-educating. How will this happen within my short life if another force for good does not interact with me and show me a better and fairer way to live?

  Do you know what I am getting at here?

  Preaching is fine in my books. I have the ability to sift the information and take from it what I choose.

  just curious..now that you're an exjw, do you think that the world is a good place or an evil place to be?.

  or are you screwed up about asylum seekers and other perceived threats to your security?.

  Life is good..it's great to just be alive..why worry?

  Well, I believe that is true in a way and all very well and good if you aren't suffering from extreme poverty or living in a war zone.

  I think the experience of life and being conscious is beautiful, aside from that, the world I see through the news & media outlets looks pretty screwed up to me.

  1000s starving, 1000s dying in war, violence on our streets, disgusting diseases spreading, natural disasters - you know what I mean

  I try to balance this by walking in the park, taking in the air, listening to nature and in a way wrap a bandage around the fear & hurt I feel within my heart.

  But, that bandage is only temporary and soon I see the blood pressing through the fibres again.

  whenever people tell me happy birthday tomorrow what do i say?

  and the girl i took to prom well im still having some feelings for her and we seem to be getting along good.

  id like to hang out with her because shes fun, but she has a bf now.

  Still don't do the birthday thing myself and doubt I ever will, but I just say thanks for the thought and avoid confrontation over this ritual.
